Overview and Gameplay

Ryo Sakazaki and Robert Garcia tear through South Town to rescue Yuri Sakazaki in Art of Fighting, the SNES port of SNK’s Neo Geo one-on-one fighter. Story Mode follows Ryo or Robert through a fixed criminal lineup, while versus play opens the roster for two-player fights.

The game is built around close-range martial arts, special moves, round timers, and a spirit gauge. Special attacks spend spirit, repeated use weakens them, and taunting can drain the opponent’s spirit. Between story fights, bonus stages can improve spirit, power, or special attack ability.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Rounds are won by reducing the opponent’s strength before time runs out.
  • The spirit gauge controls the strength and availability of special techniques.
  • Holding attack buttons can restore spirit but leaves the fighter open.
  • RAZ taunts reduce the opponent’s spirit gauge.
  • Two-player mode is competitive versus play, not co-op.

  • This is the European PAL SNES release.
