Overview and Gameplay

Nobunaga’s rise is presented as a fixed campaign of historical battles rather than an open-ended conquest map. Oda Nobunaga: Haou no Gundan follows key episodes from the Sengoku warlord’s life through story scenes, sortie preparation, battlefield movement, and tactical combat.

The player chooses commanders, assigns troops, moves squads across terrain, attacks enemy units and strongpoints, then resolves clashes on a separate battle screen. Progress comes from clearing scenarios in order, gaining experience, distributing rewards, and strengthening officers for later battles.

Controls And Mechanics

  • The game is controlled through menus, map cursor movement, and command selection.
  • Unit types include daimyo, samurai commanders, spearmen, archers, gunners, ninja, and ashigaru.
  • Terrain affects movement, while officer stats and troop class influence combat results.
  • This is a single-player campaign with save support and no multiplayer mode.

Version Notes

This is the Japanese Super Famicom release titled 織田信長 覇王の軍団. It is a Japan-only strategy game and should not be confused with Koei’s Nobunaga’s Ambition series.
