Overview and Gameplay
California Games II collects five score-based extreme-sports events: hang gliding, snowboarding, bodyboarding, skateboarding, and jet surfing. Each event has its own timing, hazards, stunts, and scoring rules, with the overall goal of earning the best total score across the competition.
Players can practice single events or enter a full contest. Hang gliding mixes stunt flying, balloon drops, dolphin feeding, and landing. Snowboarding and skateboarding focus on speed, trick timing, and avoiding falls, while bodyboarding and jet surfing test steering, spins, and survival through obstacles.
Controls And Mechanics
- The directional pad is used for steering, movement, stunt inputs, and menu selection.
- A, B, X, and Y perform event-specific actions such as launching, jumping, stunts, board slides, water balloons, or fish drops.
- L and R are used in events such as bodyboarding and jet surfing for spins or hard turns.
- Repeated stunts score less after overuse, so varied performance matters.
- Multiplayer is score-based competition, with players taking turns rather than playing cooperatively.
