Overview and Gameplay
PGA Tour golf is built around licensed TPC courses, professional players, weather, ball lies, and a three-click swing meter. PGA Tour 96 is the SNES version of EA’s mid-1990s golf simulation, developed by Halestorm for the console.
The game includes courses such as Summerlin, Sawgrass, Avenel, Scottsdale, Southwind, River Highlands, Las Colinas, and Woodlands. Modes include Practice Round, Tournament, Skins Challenge, Match Play, Shoot-Out, Driving Range, and Putting Green.
Controls And Mechanics
- Swing timing: use a three-click meter to set backswing, power, and accuracy.
- Shot planning: aim shots, change clubs, read the ball lie, and use draw or fade to shape the ball.
- Putting: adjust distance and use the green grid to read breaks near the hole.
- Tournament play: four-round events include professional competition, cuts, and prize money.
- Multiplayer: up to four players can compete through alternating golf turns.
