Overview and Gameplay

EA’s early PGA Tour simulation brings tournament golf to SNES with real-style course management, shot timing, wind, lies, putting grids, and TV-style camera views. PGA Tour Golf is the European PAL release of the first SNES entry in the series.

Players compete on courses such as TPC at Sawgrass, PGA West Stadium Course, Eagle Trace, and TPC at Avenel. The game focuses on club choice, aiming, special shots, crosswinds, bunkers, greens, scoreboards, player records, saved games, and tournament play against a professional field.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Swing system: shots use a three-click timing method for power and ball contact.
  • Shot planning: change clubs, aim the cursor, choose special shots, and account for wind and lie.
  • Putting: green-grid views help read slope and adjust distance near the hole.
  • Views: overhead, Ball-Cam, normal shot view, and replay-style coverage support planning and feedback.
  • Multiplayer: up to four players can compete through alternating golf turns.
