Overview and Gameplay
Red Skull gathers Marvel villains for a world-threatening plan, and the Avengers answer with Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, and Vision. Captain America and the Avengers is the SNES version of Data East’s arcade beat ’em up, mixing side-view brawling with shooter-style scenes.
Players move through five main stages, fight waves of enemies, pick up objects, throw attacks across the screen, and face villains such as Wizard, Mandarin, Juggernaut, Ultron, Crossbones, Red Skull, and Mecha Red Skull. The SNES port supports two heroes together instead of the arcade version’s four-player format.
Controls And Mechanics
- The directional pad moves the hero and aims attacks.

- Special weapons and character-specific attacks give each Avenger a different combat style.

- Two players can fight together in local co-op, each choosing a superhero.
Version Notes
The European SNES release uses the same English title. This version is a home-console conversion of the 1991 arcade game and reduces the arcade’s four-player action to two-player co-op.
