Overview and Gameplay
A mishap at the Millennial Fair sends Marle into the past and pulls Crono into a time-travel story that spans prehistory, the Middle Ages, the ruined future, and beyond. Chrono Trigger is one of the SNES’s most celebrated RPGs, built around a fast-moving story, visible enemies, and battles that happen directly on the field.
The party grows to three active characters, each with Tech abilities that can combine into Dual Techs and Triple Techs. Enemy position matters because many attacks strike lines, circles, or nearby groups. Optional side quests, multiple endings, and New Game+ give the adventure more structure after the main route is cleared.
Controls And Mechanics
- The directional pad moves characters and menu cursors.
- The main action button confirms commands, talks to characters, opens chests, and enters doors.
- Dash, menu, character switching, world map, and time-machine era selection each have dedicated SNES buttons.
- Combat uses Active Time Battle with Active and Wait settings.
- The game is single-player only, with no versus or co-op mode.
Version Notes
