Overview and Gameplay
A boy pulls the Mana Sword from a stone, breaks his village’s protective seal, and begins a quest to restore the sword by finding the eight Mana Seeds. Secret of Mana is a major SquareSoft action RPG for SNES, known for real-time combat, Ring Command menus, weapon growth, magic leveling, and simultaneous party control.
The party grows to three heroes: the boy, the girl, and the sprite. Players explore towns, caves, palaces, and world-map routes, defeat bosses, collect weapon orbs, learn Elemental magic, and later travel by Cannon Travel and Flammie.
Controls And Mechanics
- Directions move the character and rotate Ring Command menus.
- B attacks, talks, confirms choices, and interacts with objects.
- Y opens the active character’s Ring Commands and can pause or resume play.
- X opens ally Ring Commands, while Select switches the controlled character.
- A dashes, and holding B charges stronger weapon attacks after weapon levels are gained.
- Extra players can join the party with Start once allies are available, making the adventure simultaneous co-op rather than versus or alternating play.
