Overview and Gameplay
College Slam turns the NBA Jam-style arcade basketball formula toward college teams, with fast two-on-two games, huge dunks, exaggerated defense, and over 40 schools to choose from. The SNES version focuses on quick scoring runs, turbo movement, and optional court effects rather than simulation basketball.
Modes include Head to Head, Semi Finals, Tournament, and Season. Games use two 6-minute halves, team rosters with player ratings, and a two-player-per-side structure when extra controllers are used.
Controls And Mechanics
- Players move around the court, shoot, pass, block, steal, and use turbo boost.
- Each team chooses two players per half from a five-player roster.
- Hot Spots and Power-Up Icons can add bonus scoring chances and temporary abilities outside Season Mode.
- Scoring three baskets in a row puts a player on fire, giving unlimited boost and stronger scoring chances until the other team scores.
- Local multiplayer supports teammates and head-to-head play, with up to four players using extra hardware.
