Overview and Gameplay
FIFA 98: Road to the World Cup brings EA’s late 16-bit football series to the European SNES with a focus on international qualification for the 1998 World Cup. Players can guide national teams through Road to World Cup, play friendlies, leagues, penalty shootouts, and practice drills.
Controls And Mechanics
- Matches use isometric real-time football with passing, shooting, sprinting, lobs, tackles, headers, volleys, and set pieces.
- Road to World Cup mode follows qualification groups and knockout progress toward the final tournament.
- Simulation and Action match types change fatigue, substitutions, and match speed.
- Multiple human players are supported with a multiplayer adapter, but normal site labeling fits it as a two-player sports game.
Version Notes
This is the European PAL SNES version. It was not released for SNES in North America or Japan. The verified tag reflects dump status, not gameplay content.
