Overview and Gameplay

Operation Desert Storm is framed through the cockpit of an M1A1 Abrams in Garry Kitchen’s Super Battletank: War in the Gulf. The player receives mission orders, drives across desert battlefields, reads radar and range data, and destroys Iraqi targets such as tanks, helicopters, SCUD launchers, bunkers, ammo dumps, and fortified strongholds.

The campaign has 10 missions with rising enemy pressure, changing time-of-day conditions, and objectives that must be found before they can be destroyed. The battle screen tracks fuel, speed, weapon status, ammunition, damage, range, and remaining targets.

Controls And Mechanics

  • The directional pad adjusts the cannon sight for aiming.
  • L and R steer the tank, while X increases speed and Y slows down or reverses from a stop.
  • Select cycles weapons, and A fires the selected weapon.
  • B opens the long-range radar map for locating mission targets.
  • Systems include machine guns, 120mm cannon fire, laser-guided shells, and smoke screen defense.
  • This is a single-player tank campaign with no versus or co-op mode.
