Overview and Gameplay
Nintendo’s 1993 Super Star Fox Weekend event turned Star Fox into a four-minute Arwing score challenge. Star Fox: Super Weekend sends the player through modified Corneria and Asteroid Belt stages, then into an exclusive bonus stage, chasing points instead of playing the full retail campaign.
Controls And Mechanics
- Flight: the Arwing steers through rail-shooter courses while firing lasers, braking, boosting, rolling, and launching Nova Bombs.
- Scoring: points come from enemies, rings, flying between buildings, bosses, destruction percentage, shield condition, and remaining bombs.
- Competition format: crashes restart the current stage and cost time, but the run is governed by the timer rather than a normal lives display.
- Mode: single-player only, with no alternating, versus, simultaneous, or co-op multiplayer.
Version Notes
This is the U.S. NTSC competition cartridge, also associated with the names Super Star Fox Weekend and Star Fox Official Competition. It is not the standard retail Star Fox.
