Overview and Gameplay
Kamek kidnaps Baby Luigi, while Baby Mario falls onto Yoshi’s Island and is carried by a relay of Yoshis. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island is a highly regarded late SNES platformer with hand-drawn visuals, egg throwing, flutter jumps, hidden collectibles, and six worlds of eight stages.
Controls And Mechanics
- Yoshi moves through side-scrolling stages, jumps, flutters, eats enemies, turns them into eggs, and throws eggs at enemies, switches, clouds, and collectibles.
- When Yoshi is hit, Baby Mario floats away and a countdown starts until he is rescued.
- Each stage can be scored up to 100 points through stars, red coins, and flowers.
- The main adventure is single-player, with limited two-player versus mini-battle play.
Version Notes
This is the European PAL Rev 1 version, with English, French, and German language support. It uses the international title Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island; the Japanese title is Super Mario: Yoshi Island.
