Overview and Gameplay
Bowser has taken Princess Toadstool during a trip to Dinosaur Land, and Mario meets Yoshi while chasing the Koopalings across a branching world map. Super Mario World is one of the defining SNES platformers, built around fast side-scrolling stages, secret exits, switch palaces, Ghost Houses, fortresses, castles, and a 96-exit completion goal.
Controls And Mechanics
- Move across stages and the overworld, jump, spin jump, run, carry objects, throw fireballs, and use Cape Feather flight and gliding.
- Yoshi can eat enemies, spit items, use shell powers, and be dismounted when needed.
- The reserve item box can store a spare power-up and drop it into play.
- Two-player mode alternates turns between Mario and Luigi; it is not simultaneous co-op.
Version Notes
This is the European PAL Rev 1 version of the SNES release. The public game title remains Super Mario World; the Japanese release is also associated with the subtitle Super Mario Bros. 4. The verified tag is a file-quality note, not a gameplay feature.
