Overview and Gameplay
Robot fighters RD008 and RC011 face an alien invasion in Super Probotector: Alien Rebels, the European PAL version of Konami’s SNES run-and-gun shooter better known elsewhere as Contra III: The Alien Wars.
The game moves through six stages, mixing side-view action with top-view battlefields. Players blast enemies, collect weapon capsules, switch between two carried guns, fight large bosses, and use bombs when the screen becomes crowded.
Controls And Mechanics
- Side-view stages focus on running, aiming, jumping, shooting, weapon switching, bombs, and grabbing walls or ceilings.
- Top-view stages add battlefield rotation, map use, and a conceal action for avoiding enemy fire.
- Weapons include Spread Gun, Crush Gun, Homing Gun, Fire Gun, Laser Gun, Barrier, and Bomb.
- Two-player mode is simultaneous co-op, with both players fighting through the same campaign.
Version Notes
This European release replaces the human Contra heroes and enemy soldiers with robots, creating the Probotector identity while keeping the same core SNES action design.
