Overview and Gameplay
Under the red moon, King Gallagher’s Dark Forces overrun the Dream World, and Lena Brande becomes the new Valis warrior. Super Valis IV is a side-scrolling sword-action platformer with seven acts, boss fights, HP, score, and special attack items.
Lena uses the Valis sword, collects items such as Three-Way Beam, Bomber, Searcher, Homing, Heart, and Armor, and manages an item chamber during stage progression.
Controls And Mechanics
- Movement: directions move Lena, crouch, and dash with a double tap.
- Combat: Y attacks, while directions and Y can use the item in the chamber.
- Jumping: B jumps, with a longer press giving a higher jump.
- Items: X sets a special item, and L or R moves the special attack cursor.
- Mode: single-player only, with no versus or co-op play.
Version Notes
This is the USA SNES release titled Super Valis IV. The Japanese SFC version is Super Valis: Akaki Tsuki no Otome. The SNES game is a reworked adaptation of Valis IV with Lena as the only playable character.
