Overview and Gameplay
A far-future TG3000 tournament sends racers across 12 planets to chase the Planet Champion title. Known outside Japan as Top Gear 3000, this Super Famicom racer uses behind-the-car arcade racing, qualifying placements, prize money, passwords, vehicle upgrades, and competitive split-screen play.
Controls And Mechanics
- Racing: steer, accelerate, brake, use items, and cycle through available race devices during each event.
- Progression: Championship mode spans 47 courses; finishing high enough advances the player, while stronger results earn money for upgrades.
- Systems: Easy, Medium, and Hard settings affect rival speed and blocking. Recharge, repair, boost, jump, warp, and other track features shape races.
- Multiplayer: two players can race simultaneously in Championship or versus play; multiplayer is competitive, not co-op.
Version Notes
This Japanese Super Famicom release uses the title The Planet’s Champ TG3000, while Western releases use Top Gear 3000. The internal title is PLANETS CHAMP TG3000, and the game uses the DSP-4 chip.
