Overview and Gameplay
A Tokyo game-center landmark returns on SNES with a trap-and-bury design instead of direct attacks. Nichibutsu Arcade Classics 2: Heiankyo Alien has the player defend Heian-kyo by digging holes, luring aliens into them, and filling the holes before they climb out.
Controls And Mechanics
- Original Mode recreates the classic Heiankyo Alien rules, with score bonuses for quickly burying trapped aliens.
- New Type Mode updates the presentation and adds blocks, items, and a faster three-stage hole system.
- Versus Mode has two players compete in separate areas, sending extra aliens to the opponent by burying their own targets.
- Two-player support includes competitive play and cooperative trap-digging in supported modes.
Version Notes
This is the Japan-only Super Famicom release. It focuses on Heiankyo Alien with original and updated modes, not the first Nichibutsu Arcade Classics compilation.
