Overview and Gameplay
B.J. Blazkowicz fights through fortress mazes in this European SNES adaptation of id Software’s first-person shooter. Wolfenstein 3D sends the player through six missions built around finding keys, opening doors, collecting ammo and health, searching secret walls, defeating guards and mutants, and reaching each floor exit.
Controls And Mechanics
- Movement is corridor-based, with turning, forward and backward movement, strafing, door use, weapon fire, weapon cycling, and an automap.
- Weapons, ammo, health, treasure, keys, extra lives, and secret rooms shape each floor.
- Score comes from treasure, enemy defeats, secrets, and end-of-floor bonuses.
- Difficulty settings change incoming damage and enemy attack behavior.
- This SNES version is single-player only, with no two-player, versus, or co-op mode.
Version Notes
This is the European PAL SNES release. The SNES version is a modified console adaptation with 30 levels across six missions, added weapons and power-ups, passwords, and Nintendo-era censorship such as altered imagery and changed enemies.
