Overview and Gameplay
Batman crosses a snow-covered Gotham to stop the Penguin and his Red Triangle Circus Gang in this unlicensed NES version of Batman Returns. The side-scrolling action spans six stages, mixing street brawls, platforming, boss battles, a Batmobile chase, and a Batskiboat sequence.
Batman advances by defeating enemies, finding useful items, and overcoming villains such as Catwoman, the Tattooed Strongman, and the Penguin. Passwords allow progress to continue after a game over.
Controls And Mechanics
- Move, jump, punch, slide, block, and perform aerial attacks.
- Use limited Batarangs or a grappling hook to attack and reach elevated areas.
- The spinning cape attack is powerful but consumes one unit of health.
- Reaching each 10,000-point milestone completely restores Batman’s life meter.
- The experience system improves health after continuing, but higher experience can reduce the final score and affect the ending.
