Overview and Gameplay

Paint every stretch of highway while escaping the police in City Connection, an NES conversion of Jaleco’s 1985 arcade game. Your car moves across stacked roads in cities including New York, London, Paris, Frankfurt, New Delhi, and Tokyo. A stage ends when every road section has been covered.

Police cars, cats, spikes, and awkward gaps turn the simple objective into a demanding score chase. Balloons provide a shortcut to another country, while careful route planning helps prevent isolated road sections from being left behind.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Use the directions to reverse, accelerate, jump upward, or drop to a lower highway.
  • Press A to jump and B to throw a collected oil can.
  • Oil makes police cars spin; ramming a stunned car earns 400 points.
  • Unused oil cans award bonus points after a normal stage clear.
  • Three balloons trigger a country warp and a score bonus.
  • Two-player mode uses alternating turns rather than simultaneous play.

Version Notes

The Western NES release replaces the Japanese version’s driver, Clarice, with an unnamed male character. It also uses revised story material and artwork, measures distance in miles, and omits the retained high score from the title screen.
