Overview and Gameplay

A mysterious crow turns a visiting prince into a frog during a royal wedding in Marry Land. Carpenter Bob must cross five themed lands, recover the ingredients for an antidote, and confront the ruler of the Mysterious Land.

Don Doko Don 2 is a Japan-only Famicom sequel built as a scrolling action-platformer rather than a port of the original arcade game. Bob explores stages, finds keys, enters doors, handles light environmental puzzles, and defeats a boss at the end of each land.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Move and jump: Use the directional pad to move and A to jump. Holding A changes the jump height.
  • Hammer combat: B swings the hammer. Stunned enemies are picked up on contact and can be thrown with B, including upward with directions and B.
  • Enemy stacks: Carrying several stunned enemies creates a stronger projectile, but slows Bob and gives the enemies time to recover.
  • Items: Hearts restore health, red gems can recover health, and Chack’n panels can increase the health gauge. Special weapons and temporary abilities expand Bob’s options.
  • Players: This version is single-player only.

Version Notes

This is the original Japanese Famicom release. It was never issued as an official North American or PAL NES cartridge, and its story text and several gameplay hints remain in Japanese.
