Overview and Gameplay

Carpenters Bob and Jim chase a creature that kidnapped the king and princess of Marry Land. Each fixed-screen stage is cleared by flattening enemies with a hammer, picking them up, and throwing them into walls or other foes. Defeated enemies become fruit for bonus points.

The standard route contains five worlds and 50 stages, with a boss every tenth stage. A concealed path opens a tougher reverse route that extends the adventure to Round 101.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Move with the directional pad, jump with A, and swing the hammer with B.
  • Walk over a flattened enemy to carry it, then press B to throw it. Multiple enemies can be carried together, although larger bundles reduce movement speed.
  • Power levels improve how many targets a thrown enemy can strike. Temporary items can freeze foes, flatten every enemy, create flying attacks, or turn enemies into fruit.
  • Two players control Bob and Jim simultaneously in cooperative play on the same screen.

Version Notes

This Japan-only Famicom conversion preserves the arcade game’s cooperative structure and enemy-throwing mechanics. Its graphics, animation, music, and scaling effects are simplified, and some room layouts or item placements differ from the arcade release.
