Overview and Gameplay
Kunio takes over Nekketsu High School’s struggling hockey club and fights toward the Inter-High tournament in a fast, rough arcade take on ice hockey. Each match has three three-minute periods, with three skaters and a goalkeeper per side. Scenario mode is a linear campaign built around tougher opponents, costume rewards, passwords, and increasingly hazardous rinks.
Controls And Mechanics
- Move with directions, dash by double-tapping left or right, and jump by pressing A and B together.
- With the puck, A tosses or passes and B shoots; holding B prepares a charged special shot.
- Without the puck, A performs a low stick sweep and B delivers a shoulder tackle. Dash and jump combinations produce stronger attacks.
- Players differ in speed, power, and weight. Damage drains power, while repeated hits can trigger an anger state that strengthens attacks.
- Two-player versus and cooperative Scenario play are supported, and the original game also allows four-player team matches.
Version Notes
This is the original Japanese Famicom release. A planned North American edition called Crash ’n the Boys: Ice Challenge was cancelled. The official English title Go-Go! Nekketsu Hockey Club Slip-and-Slide Madness appeared in a 2020 compilation.
