Overview and Gameplay
Choose one of 24 national teams and guide it through qualifying matches toward the World Finals. Konami Hyper Soccer uses a vertically scrolling view and arcade-style play, with directional passing, long balls, shots, tackles, headers, volleys, corners, throw-ins, and penalty kicks.
Tournament mode begins with eight qualifiers before the knockout rounds. Victories provide passwords for continuing later, while bonus points improve Speed, Offense, Defense, Kick, Technic, and Luck. Team ratings and player upgrades shape the difficulty.
Controls And Mechanics
- Directions: Move the active player and aim passes, shots, and set pieces.
- A: Use short passes when attacking and sliding tackles without the ball. It also handles short corners, throw-ins, and penalty shots.
- B: Send long kicks and crosses or attempt headers when the ball is airborne.
- Two players: Compete simultaneously in a regular match or a penalty shootout.
