Overview and Gameplay
Pocket Monster is an unlicensed side-scrolling platform game starring Pikachu. The adventure contains four zones—Velbt, Woods, Tableland, and Motte—with three scrolling stages and a boss battle in each zone. Pikachu crosses platforms, avoids pits and hazards, stomps enemies, and reaches the exit to advance.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves Pikachu, B jumps, and holding A while moving makes him run. Battery pickups power an electric attack used by pressing A while standing still; up to three batteries can be stored. Pikachu can take three hits, while falling into a pit immediately costs a life. Death restarts the current stage, and continues resume from that stage.
Start pauses play. In the preserved build, the paused state also allows Pikachu to be repositioned with the directional pad, while Select advances to the next stage. The game supports one player.
Version Notes
This Famicom-compatible release was produced without an official Pokémon license and circulated through unlicensed cartridges and multicarts. Its standard preserved build retains the pause-screen repositioning and stage-skip functions.
