Overview and Gameplay
Jake and Elwood Blues must reach their concert after Sheriff McGraw sends them through a shopping area, warehouse, prison, sewers, and construction site. This NES adaptation of Titus’s 1991 computer game is a side-view action platformer with five chapters, each built around finding the exit.
Stages mix running, variable-height jumps, crawling, ladders, elevators, springs, water, and maze-like routes. Enemies are often hazards to avoid, although eggs can be kicked at them and some dogs or snakes can be ridden.
Controls And Mechanics
- Movement: Walk, crouch, crawl, climb, and drop through certain floors.
- Jumping: Hold the jump button for extra height; jump again to dismount a ridden animal.
- Health: Bubbles represent energy, music notes restore one bubble, and hearts grant extra lives.
- Co-op: Two players control Jake and Elwood simultaneously. The camera follows one brother, and Select changes its focus.
