Overview and Gameplay

New York children have been kidnapped by DRAT, a criminal group tied to drugs and terrorism, and the ninja Black Manta is sent in to rescue them. Wrath of the Black Manta is a side-scrolling action platformer with five levels, boss fights, rescued hostages, clues, and interrogation scenes.

Black Manta fights with darts at range and a short sword up close. The game also gives him Ninpo Arts, including fire, lightning, invisibility, spider movement, missiles, and teleportation, adding special abilities beyond standard attacks.

Controls And Mechanics

  • The Control Pad moves Black Manta, crouches, opens doors, and supports special movement.
  • Button A jumps and advances conversation text.
  • Button B attacks with darts or the short sword and is also used during conversations.
  • Select opens the Ninpo Arts screen during play.
  • Start begins the game, pauses, and resumes action.
  • The game is single-player only.

Version Notes

This USA version is the localized NES release of the Japanese Famicom game Ninja Cop Saizō, with a changed story and presentation.
