Overview and Gameplay
Illegal motorcycle races turn California highways into rolling brawls in Road Rash. This 1991 Sega Genesis original helped establish combat racing by combining high-speed traffic weaving with punches, kicks, clubs, and aggressive rival riders.
Each competition level contains five roads. Finish fourth or better on every course to advance, earn prize money, and trade your current motorcycle for a faster model. Later levels extend the races and introduce tougher opponents, while crashes, police arrests, repair costs, wildlife, and civilian traffic can ruin a strong run.
Controls And Mechanics
- Directions: Steer the motorcycle and modify certain attacks.
- A: Brake.
- B: Accelerate.
- C: Punch or swing a held club. Combining it with directions prepares kicks or backhand attacks.
- Start: Pause the race.
The two-player mode is alternating rather than split-screen. Players take turns racing against the computer-controlled field and compare their progress.
