Overview and Gameplay
A hijacked airliner rescue mission drives Operation Thunderbolt, the SNES version of Taito’s arcade sequel to Operation Wolf. The player controls a targeting cursor, shoots waves of enemies, manages limited ammunition and rocket bombs, and pushes through eight missions.
Stages mix side-scrolling firefights with forward-moving outpost assaults. Some missions require hostage rescue, while later stages add boss encounters and special failure conditions, including avoiding accidental shots at critical targets.
Controls And Mechanics
- Move the aiming cursor to line up shots while enemies attack from the sides or from depth.
- Use the gun for regular enemies and rocket bombs for heavier threats or crowded moments.
- Pickups include magazines, rocket bombs, body armor, ammunition pouches, power drinks, and first aid kits.
- The game supports simultaneous cooperative play for two players, with both players fighting through the same mission.
