Overview and Gameplay
Ness begins with a meteorite crash in Onett and ends up chasing the alien threat Giygas across a strange modern world of suburbs, cults, roadside towns, deserts, music, and psychic powers. EarthBound is a turn-based RPG with visible enemies, party growth, equipment, items, PSI abilities, and eight sanctuary locations tied to the main quest.
Controls And Mechanics
- Battles use menu commands such as Bash, PSI, Goods, Defend, Spy, and Pray depending on the character.
- The rolling HP counter can leave time to heal after heavy damage before a character collapses.
- Weak enemies can be defeated instantly when Ness’s party is strong enough.
- Phones are used for saving, and money is handled through ATMs and bank deposits.
- The game is single-player only.
