Overview and Gameplay
Garou Densetsu Special, known in English as Fatal Fury Special, brings SNK’s enhanced one-on-one fighter to Super Famicom. Players choose from a large roster and fight through the King of Fighters tournament, facing regular rivals and boss characters in fast rounds built around spacing, special moves, and the series’ two-plane battle system.
Controls And Mechanics
- Movement uses the directional pad for walking, jumping, crouching, blocking, and command inputs.
- Punch and kick attacks are split between weak and strong options, giving each fighter different close-range and long-range tools.
- The two-plane system lets fighters shift between foreground and background lanes, then attack across lanes to punish movement.
- Solo play is a tournament-style run against computer opponents, while two-player mode is direct versus fighting.
Version Notes
This Japanese Super Famicom release uses the title Garou Densetsu Special. It is the SFC port of SNK’s Neo Geo and arcade fighting game, not a hack, translation, prototype, or multicart release.
