Overview and Gameplay
Sheltem’s escape through the Gates to Another World brings the adventure to CRON, a large grid-based fantasy world threatened by his plans. The player creates and manages a party, explores towns, wilderness, castles, caves, and dungeons, then builds strength through quests, equipment, spells, gold, and experience.
This is an old-school first-person RPG rather than a stage-based action game. Progress depends on mapping, reading clues, surviving turn-based battles, hiring extra party members, and finding safe routes through a demanding open world.
Controls And Mechanics
- Movement and exploration use a first-person square grid with menu-driven party commands.
- Combat is turn-based, with character actions, spells, items, and enemy groups handled through commands.
- Character growth comes from training, equipment upgrades, spell access, and quest rewards.
- This is a single-player RPG with no versus or co-op mode.
Version Notes
This European PAL SNES release is separate from the Japanese Super Famicom version. Compared with the Genesis version, the SNES port has visual changes, free starting Cartography, visible enemy HP in battle, and a renamed tavern.
