Overview and Gameplay
A giant octopus mystery turns into a barrage of penguins, bells, parody bosses, and Konami jokes in Parodius: Non-Sense Fantasy. This European SNES release is the PAL version of Konami’s arcade shooter Parodius Da! Shinwa kara Owarai he.
The game plays like a comic twist on Gradius: choose one of four characters, fly through horizontal stages, collect capsules, build the power gauge, and survive increasingly strange enemy patterns. It looks playful, but it remains a demanding checkpoint-style shooter.
Controls And Mechanics
- Use standard shooting, missiles, and character-specific weapons to clear enemies and stage hazards.
- Capsules advance the power meter for speed-ups, stronger weapons, options, and shields.
- Bell powers add special effects inspired by Konami’s TwinBee games.
- Two-player mode is alternating play, not simultaneous co-op.
Version Notes
- This is the European PAL SNES release, also boxed simply as Parodius.
- The European version includes localized presentation and several visual edits while keeping the core shooter gameplay.
