Overview and Gameplay
Castle walls, cannon fire, and timed repairs define Rampart, the SNES conversion of Atari Games’ arcade strategy-action game. Each round cycles between placing cannons, firing at enemy ships or rival walls, and rebuilding broken defenses so at least one castle stays enclosed.
Controls And Mechanics
- Battle phases: Place cannons inside defended walls, aim during combat, then repair gaps with rotating wall pieces under a time limit.
- Scoring: Points come from enclosing castles, claiming territory, sinking ships, and destroying enemy forces.
- Super Rampart: The enhanced mode adds tougher hazards and features such as super guns, propaganda balloons, special ships, grunts, graveyards, and challenge rounds.
- Two-player mode: Two players compete simultaneously in versus battles, not co-op.
