Overview and Gameplay

World War I biplane combat drives Sky Mission, the Japanese Super Famicom release of the game also known overseas as Wings 2: Aces High and Blazing Skies. You command five Allied pilots through a 20-mission campaign over France, building toward a final confrontation with the Red Baron.

Missions switch between dogfights, bombing runs, and ground attacks. Success earns points for pilot abilities such as flying, shooting, mechanics, and stamina, while failure can remove pilots from the roster.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Flight uses directional control, throttle changes, machine-gun fire, and gentle turns for lining up attacks.
  • Bombing missions use a top-down view, with bomb drops replacing some combat actions.
  • Passwords preserve campaign progress, pilot status, and ability levels.
  • The game is single-player only.

Version Notes

This Japanese release is titled Sky Mission. The North American version is Wings 2: Aces High, while the European version is Blazing Skies. The Japanese-region game content remains largely in English.
