Overview and Gameplay
The ED-057 fighter cuts through 12 vertically scrolling areas in Space Megaforce, the North American SNES version of Compile’s Super Aleste. It is a fast shoot ’em up built around dense enemy waves, bosses, score play, and a flexible weapon system rather than a simple fixed loadout.
Players can tackle the full Standard Game or a shorter score-survival mode. Weapons, bombs, capsules, speed settings, and checkpoints make each run depend on both reflexes and smart power-up management.
Controls And Mechanics
- Eight weapon types can be powered from level 0 to level 6.
- Weapon capsules change or strengthen the current weapon, while green capsules raise its level immediately.
- Bombs clear enemies and shots from the screen.
- The Shot Control system changes how the equipped weapon behaves.
- Taking damage downgrades the weapon, and the game is single-player only.
Version Notes
This is the USA SNES release titled Space Megaforce. Japan and Europe used the title Super Aleste; the English release changes presentation and story material while keeping the core shooter gameplay.
