Overview and Gameplay
An AT1196 attack helicopter is the center of Steel Talons, a 3D combat flight shooter adapted for SNES from Atari Games’ 1991 arcade title. Missions send the player over polygon-style terrain to locate targets, manage fuel and time, and destroy objectives with missiles and cannon fire.
Controls And Mechanics
- The pilot controls speed, turning, altitude, spin movement, weapons, and view switching.
- Missiles are limited, while the cannon is used for repeated attacks on ground and air targets.
- Radar, lock-on, collision warnings, refuels, passwords, and Real Mode shape the mission flow.
- Two-player mode is simultaneous co-op: Player 1 pilots while Player 2 acts as gunner in the same helicopter.
Version Notes
This is the USA SNES version, a home-console port of the 1991 Atari Games arcade release rather than the arcade original.
