Overview and Gameplay
Rough tackles, referee calls, and special strikers give Super Soccer Champ its arcade-soccer identity. This North American SNES version is based on Taito’s Football Champ and Hat Trick Hero line, with eight international teams and a close side-view field.
Players move from match to match toward the top ranking, using passes, shots, headers, volleys, overhead kicks, and aggressive defensive moves. Each team can choose an Ace Striker, and rare Super Shoot techniques add flair near the goal.
Controls And Mechanics
- The directional pad moves players, aims passes, and directs shots.
- Offense uses situational low passes, high passes, fast shots, headers, volleys, and overhead kicks.
- Defense includes shoulder charges, slide tackles, and foul-heavy contact when the referee catches it.
- Two-player modes include versus play and co-op against the computer.
