Overview and Gameplay

Cameltry is Taito’s rotating-maze action puzzle game, known outside Japan as On the Ball. Instead of steering the ball directly, the player rotates the entire maze so gravity and momentum carry the ball through corridors, traps, and time-based challenges.

Each round is cleared by reaching the goal before time runs out. Courses are grouped into planes, with passwords awarded after clearing a plane. The game also includes a two-player alternating score competition.

Controls And Mechanics

  • The directional pad selects menus, rotates the map, and can shake or jump the ball in certain situations.
  • Y rotates left quickly, while A rotates right quickly.
  • L and R provide medium-speed left and right rotation.
  • X gives slow right rotation, and B shakes or jumps the ball.
  • Timer bonuses, mystery bricks, bumpers, breakable bricks, and Number Match retries shape the challenge.

Version Notes

The Japanese Super Famicom release uses the title Cameltry. The North American and European SNES versions were released as On the Ball.
