Overview and Gameplay
Syvalion sends a segmented golden mechanical dragon through free-scrolling maze stages filled with enemies, hazards, and bosses. Based on Taito’s 1988 arcade game, the SNES version includes Basic Series, Real Combat Series, and Time Attack modes, with variable stage layouts and many ending message variations in Real Combat.
Controls And Mechanics
- The dragon moves in eight directions, accelerates, and rotates to fit through corridors.
- Fire breath uses a gauge: continuous firing weakens the flame until it recovers.
- Body segments act as health, changing color as damage builds.
- Score items, temporary upgrades, and boss fights shape each run.
- Two-player support is alternating hot-seat play, not simultaneous co-op.
Version Notes
This is the European PAL SNES release, distinct from listed Europe beta builds. The SNES version was released in Japan and Europe, while the planned North American SNES release was canceled.
