Overview and Gameplay
An F-15 Strike Eagle crosses global combat theaters in a mission-based flight combat game from MicroProse. Super Strike Eagle uses satellite-map navigation, air-to-air dogfights, ground-attack runs, landings, refueling, repairs, scoring, and password-style access codes.
The player studies briefing maps, destroys strategic targets, fights enemy aircraft, manages fuel and damage, and returns to friendly bases or carriers to reload. Later theaters add tougher conditions, limited sorties, and night missions that must be completed without landing.
Controls And Mechanics
- Flight: directions maneuver the F-15, while X and Y control throttle.
- Weapons: B fires missiles or enters attack and landing modes; A opens the WSO screen or fires the cannon in combat.
- Defense: L releases chaff and R releases flares against incoming missiles.
- Systems: Select works with other buttons for missile selection and autopilot commands.
- Co-op: a second player can act as WSO, handling weapons and defenses while player one flies.
