Overview and Gameplay

Zarak has invaded Sweit, and the player joins a Coalition air campaign in a fictional Gulf War-style desert conflict. This SNES-exclusive game combines isometric jet combat with mission planning, aircraft selection, weapon loadouts, briefings, debriefings, and battery-backed saving.

Each sortie sends an F-15 Eagle or A-10 Tankbuster against military targets such as radar sites, air bases, ground units, pipelines, chemical facilities, and SCUD launchers. Missions are limited by time, fuel, weapons, and performance goals, so the game plays more tactically than a simple arcade shooter.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Aircraft: choose between the faster F-15 and the ground-attack-focused A-10.
  • Loadouts: air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons are selected before takeoff.
  • Missions: targets must be found and destroyed across repeated sorties.
  • Evaluation: debriefings judge accuracy, efficiency, and mission results.
  • Players: this SNES release is for one player only.

The USA title is A.S.P. Air Strike Patrol. The same SNES game was released in Europe as Desert Fighter and in Japan as Desert Fighter: Suna no Arashi Sakusen.
