Overview and Gameplay
Gargamel has kidnapped Jokey Smurf, Brainy Smurf, Greedy Smurf, and Smurfette, leaving Hefty Smurf to cross Smurf country and rescue them. This European SNES game is a one-player side-scrolling platformer with timed stages, enemy head-stomping, collectible bonuses, passwords, sledding, mine-wagon sections, and a route toward Gargamel’s hideout.
Controls And Mechanics
- Movement: walk, crouch, handle objects, jump, run, climb, and throw carried objects.
- Jumping: enemies can be defeated or stunned by landing on their heads, and running helps produce higher jumps.
- Items: hearts track health, raspberries restore life, Smurf Dolls give extra lives, and sarsaparilla leaves can also reward an extra life.
- Progression: stars open bonus games, score comes from bonuses, enemies, and remaining time, and Easy, Medium, and Hard settings are available.
Version Notes
This is the European PAL SNES release, with localized European titles including Les Schtroumpfs, Die Schlümpfe, I Puffi, and Los Pitufos. The SNES version uses passwords and includes language selection.
