Overview and Gameplay

Ninja-Kun crosses mountains, caves, beaches, temples, and underwater passages on his way to confront Ashura. A flower-card choice at the beginning changes parts of the route, while later branches lead through alternate scenes before rejoining the main path. The full journey reaches Scene 31 and ends with the battle against Ashura.

Some scenes end when Ninja-Kun reaches the exit, while others require every target enemy to be defeated. He begins with standard shuriken and can earn homing shuriken, bombs, and a fire technique by completing special stages through their proper exits. Underwater areas replace the normal weapons with a sword.

Controls And Mechanics

Move and crouch with the directional pad, jump with A, and use the selected weapon with B. Pressing up cycles through acquired weapons. Ninja-Kun can cling to walls, climb by pressing A repeatedly, and kick away from walls to cross shafts or reach higher platforms.

Enemy scrolls and remaining time contribute to the scene-clear bonus. Certain scrolls double the current total or erase it, and striking a defeated enemy before it falls awards an extra 1,000 points. Two-player mode uses alternating turns with separate lives, scores, and scroll totals.
