Overview and Gameplay
Samurai Shodown III is a weapon-based fighting game built around one-on-one battles. The selectable roster consists of Nakoruru, Ukyo, Haohmaru, and Charlotte, with duplicate portrait slots for the same four fighters. In the single-player mode, each character advances through a sequence of computer-controlled opponents, enters a straw-dummy bonus stage, and eventually faces Amakusa. A separate versus mode supports direct two-player matches.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves the fighter around the arena, while the A and B buttons perform attacks. Start begins or pauses play. The bonus stage asks the player to destroy appearing straw targets. Two players compete simultaneously, and this version allows both sides to choose the same fighter.
Version Notes
This unlicensed Famicom/NES adaptation was developed by Rex Soft and also circulated under the title Wu Shi Hun. The release uses four unique playable fighters and repeats them across the selection screen. Its same-character versus support distinguishes it from closely related variants.
