Overview and Gameplay

Street Fighter III is an unlicensed one-on-one fighting game with a single-player opponent sequence and simultaneous two-player versus matches. The roster contains nine distinct fighters: Ryu, Ken, Blanka, Guile, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, Vega, Sagat, and M. Bison.

Single-player mode begins with one of eight difficulty settings and follows a fixed series of battles shown on a world map. Timed rounds use health bars, and completing the sequence displays an ending image for the selected fighter.

Controls And Mechanics

The directional pad moves, jumps, crouches, and enters special-move commands. A performs punches and B performs kicks. Tapping an attack button produces a lighter strike, while holding it produces a stronger version.

Fighters retain signature techniques such as Hadouken, Sonic Boom, Yoga Fire, Tiger Shot, and Psycho Crusher. Two-player mode places both fighters in the same arena for direct competitive matches.

Version Notes

This unauthorized Famicom conversion adapts Street Fighter II-era characters and rules. The 18-fighter selection screen contains alternate-color entries for nine distinct fighters, with each duplicate retaining the same attacks and behavior. The title screen was changed from Super Fighter III to Street Fighter III.
