Overview and Gameplay

Every stage is a tiny island of bombs, and the puzzle is to destroy all of them without leaving yourself stranded or blown up.

This Japanese Super Famicom version uses the Bombuzal title, while the North American SNES release was renamed Ka-Blooey. The player moves across tile-based stages, detonates bombs in careful order, uses chain reactions, and works through 130 single-screen puzzles with map views and password continuation.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Bombs come in different sizes, with larger explosions requiring careful distance and timing.
  • Chain reactions are often needed to destroy dangerous bombs safely.
  • Slot tiles allow bomb transport, while cracked tiles, mines, ice, switches, and spinner tiles change the puzzle rules.
  • Map screens help plan routes before committing to a detonation sequence.
  • The SNES version is treated as single-player puzzle play.

Version Notes

  • The Japanese Super Famicom release uses the title Bombuzal.
  • The North American SNES version was released under the alternate title Ka-Blooey.
