Overview and Gameplay
A run-down inherited farm becomes the center of daily life in Harvest Moon, the first game in the farming-life series later known as Story of Seasons. The player clears land, plants crops, raises animals, earns money, improves the farm, and builds relationships across 2 1/2 in-game years.
Each day is limited by time, stamina, weather, and season. Spring and summer crops, livestock care, mountain foraging, festivals, house upgrades, marriage, and family progress all feed into the final evaluation.
Controls And Mechanics
- Move around the farm, town, and mountain while managing daily time.
- Use tools to chop stumps, break rocks, till soil, water crops, cut grass, and harvest produce.
- Switch carried items, talk to villagers, pick up animals or goods, and call the dog or horse.
- Livestock must be fed and cared for, with eggs and milk becoming regular income sources.
