Overview and Gameplay

Color matching replaces classic line clearing in Tetris 2. Falling pieces contain red, blue, and yellow blocks, and the goal is to line up three or more blocks of the same color horizontally or vertically.

Normal play focuses on clearing Flash Blocks and Fixed Blocks to advance through rounds. Puzzle mode gives a set problem with limited falling pieces, while 1P vs COM and 1P vs 2P turn the system into simultaneous split-screen competition.

Controls And Mechanics

  • The directional pad moves falling blocks, selects menu options, and drops the next piece in Puzzle mode.
  • A and X rotate clockwise, while B and Y rotate counter-clockwise.
  • Flash Blocks can clear same-colored blocks, and chain reactions raise score or pressure an opponent.
  • Two-player mode is simultaneous versus play, not alternating play and not co-op.

Version Notes

This is the European PAL SNES release, titled Tetris 2. The Japanese Super Famicom version is known as Tetris Flash.
